Most businesses are set up to treat machines better than people whereas, employees deserve better treatment by the employer as an organization does not operate in a vacuum.
Companies should endeavor for their own ultimate benefit to restore some humanity in the workplace in order to get the best out of their employees.
Organizations should put right motivational strategies to arouse employee commitment, loyalty, happiness and satisfaction.
“Employee commitment and job satisfaction are the twin holy grails of employee communications often overlooked in the tactical rush to produce knockout publications… Building commitment and satisfaction should serve as the foundation for all internal communication efforts” (Shel Holtz).
The criteria for achieving job satisfaction include:
i) Involvement: employees must be directly involved in the organization process for him to have sense of belonging.
ii) Role knowledge: play active roles in the organization process to have insight and deep knowledge of the organization.
iii) Connection to the marketplace: There must be familiarity with the market in which the organization operates. Employees must be actively involved to feel more secured.
iv) Employer must be able to trust their employees to know what they are up to particularly when it comes to the area of performing a task.
